- Why Swaddle?
ErgoPouch offer a range of baby swaddles to suit different temperatures so that you can look after baby's comfort without using blankets or quilts. We chose this beautiful range from ergoPouch because they are made using the softest, natural, breathable Bamboo - the ideal fabric for brand new skin!
The airCocoon is their lightest baby swaddle and is perfect for keeping your baby securely swaddled even on warm summer days and nights.
- 0-3M - fits 3-6kgs - Length of swaddle - 60cm
- 2-6M - fits 5-9kgs - Length of swaddle - 70cm
Measurements are from shoulder to feet.
All of ergoPouch's products are made from natural fibres and kept at their best using a cool, gentle wash cycle. Tumble Dryers don't really like bamboo so we'd avoid using these - you'll find they dry super quickly without!
Top Tip! Once your baby is able to roll you should discontinue swaddling and allow their arms to be free. Try ergoPouch Sleeping Bags.

Swaddling has been used the world over for centuries but it is only in recent years that it has come back into trend for British babies. When Kate left hospital with Prince George wrapped tightly in his little bundle there was an internet onslaught that would leave a Kardashian looking green!
Swaddling can be a wonderful way to soothe your baby, due to the snug, warm and secure nature of the wrap. It's resurgence in recent years follows research that has shown it to be an easy and comforting way to settle new babies. It is commonly carried out by wrapping your baby in a blanket and you will probably have had a lesson from a midwife, health visitor or perhaps even a friend who has been there before you.
When they are tiny, babies can become disturbed by their own startle reflex and its believed swaddling helps this. It can also help keep them warm and toasty in their first few days until their own internal thermostat kicks in.
The trick is to make sure you've checked the Big Three reasons for a baby being upset -hungry, wet, or tired - and then to try this wonderful technique as a means to settling baby down. Like most good advice, some babies love it, some don't!
If you choose to swaddle, its important you know how to do it properly. Improper swaddling may loosen the joints and damage the soft cartilage of the hip sockets, leading to hip dysplasia. This isn't meant to scare you, its simply information you should be aware of.
We lovee the ErgoPouch Swaddles because with no zips, velcro or unravelling, all of the fuss about technique and 'How to Swaddle ' is taken away - these wonderfully soft little pouches are ready to go.
There has been lots of research on when you should stop and its widely accepted that once your little one is about a month old you should stop swaddling when they are awake. There is a possibility it might begin to interfere with mobility and development. Keep it up for naps and at nightime if they enjoy the security it gives them. The next milestone is when babies start to roll over. At this stage you really want to move to sleep bags for nighttime and naps.
